Wall Painting Ideas – Adding Creativity to Your Home

Posted by David Armstrong in January 15th 2010

When it comes to making your home look as inviting as possible, one of the most important aspects is the wall paint. The color and type of paint you choose can make all the difference to whether a room feels warm and appealing or dark and unattractive. This article will give you some painting ideas to help you make the right decision.

The first thing you need to think about is which room you’re decorating. For example, bedroom painting ideas are probably not going to be the same as kitchen ones. Bathroom paint ideas should be based around making sure the environment appears clean and modern.

Next you need to decide on a color. The color of paint you buy can make a huge difference when it comes to interior painting ideas because it can have a big effect on our emotions. In a relaxing environment you should go for a cool and subtle color while if decorating a playroom you may want to go for something a bit brighter and exciting.

Once you’ve worked out the basics you can move onto some more advanced paint ideas. For example, one of the more common bedroom paint ideas is to use a wall stencil to create an interesting or meaningful image on the wall. All you have to do is create or buy a cut-out of the design you want and then use a spray paint onto the wall. It is an extremely simple method but can be very effective if used correctly.

Another one of the more common room painting ideas is to use different types of paints to create the illusion of another material. For example, if you’ve always liked the look of wood walls in houses then you can use faux paint to create this effect. This is more difficult than using a wall stencil but can look great in some situations.

When trying to come up with wall paint ideas the most important thing to remember is your own level of skill. While it can be tempting to try and save money by doing all the painting yourself, if you hire a professional to do it you’ll probably end up with better results for a lot less hassle. Even so, creating interesting painting ideas has become a lot easier in recent years with all the ready-made kits that are available, so should you want to create some DIY designs then it is definitely possible to do so.
