Unfinished Oak Flooring For Your Hardwood Floor

Posted by admin in September 2nd 2010

Unfinished oak flooring has existed much longer than their counterparts, the pre-finished wood plank flooring. Generally, unfinished oak flooring is usually put together with flooring panels which are raw and the rest is left for the person installing unfinished hardwood to manually sand, stain, and buffer the floor. These steps are all a lot more work than the entire installation process of pre-finished hardwood floors. These are very time consuming procedures that can only be truly enjoyed by those who love woodworking. It is easy to see why these lovely floors have become so popular.

The fact that unfinished oak flooring remains famous indicates that there are benefits to unfinished wood plank flooring beyond just loving to work with wood. One of the advantages is the fact that whenever a good woodworker does the job by hand, the attention to detail results in a much increased quality compared to factory produced finished panels can. When you do it yourself, you will have control over bringing out the natural beauty of the wood grain. Another benefit is that you can make certain that there is a level of continuity in the floor. Almost anything can actually be placed on the entire floor, rather than fitting individual panels that were finished separately and wishing the finish was applied at consistent enough levels that all of the panels match perfectly.

The benefits of having unfinished oak flooring panels are visible when you are placing a wood plank flooring in a building that already has hardwood floors. It may seem to be a bit impossible to find a pre-finished floor that compares to matching the other floors in the building. Nevertheless, it is not so difficult to find coordinating wood grain in an unfinished floor and add finish to mimic the original finish color and gloss.
