The Value of Patio Pavers

Posted by David Armstrong in December 11th 2009

Patio pavers come in all shapes and sizes, and if you are thinking about remodeling your patio or driveway, and concrete doesn’t appeal to you, then pavers are a great alternative.  Before you begin shopping though, you need to make sure that you understand the costs associated with installing pavers compared to concrete or asphalt.  The latter two materials generally cost a lot less than pavers do, as well as the cost of labor.  One concrete contracting crew can usually install your patio within a day, whereas having patio pavers installed could take up to a week depending on the size of the area you are having covered.

When it comes to selecting the difference, time constraints are a big concern.  If you are having this work completed on your driveway, you want to make sure you have an area to park your vehicles.  If you don’t, during the time of the pavers’ installation you will have restrict access your to your home.

Installation of pavers for the patio areas will not cause the parking constraint.  Many people are wanting to increase the value of their homes in this market by having pavers installed in the front of their house.  The increased curb appeal and return on investment is instant, even though the cost is much higher than concrete.

There are a lot of paver patio designs to choose from, once you have come to the conclusion on whether or not pavers are right for you.  From horizontal, vertical, diagonal and even mosaic, the possibilities are truly endless.  Your budget is truly the limit when it comes to making your driveway or patio perfect by installing pavers.  If you have the money, there are designers and contracting companies that can use different colors of pavers to match the natural colors of your home.

Brick patio pavers offer a very classic, rustic feel to the outside of a home, while still maintaining a modern look and appeal.  The costs associated with having patio pavers installed as opposed to concrete, is higher on average. But what home owners are learning is that brick and concrete patio pavers can stand the test of time, and are being found on homes that are more than 100 years old.  These older homes with original patio pavers are still in the same condition that they were the day the homes were built.  Because of this, more people are wanting to resort back to the durable, long life span of pavers over concrete block.
