If you are going to buy a walk in shower that is part of a kit here are the things you look for:
1. What’s included in what the dealer calls a “stall”? Many times it means the glass doors and the frame. You usually end up buying the floor pans and side panels separately, as well as all the fixtures. What looks like a complete walk in shower stall enclosure online or in a showroom are often not all inclusive. Please read the fine print.
2. what’s the glass made from and is easy cleaning or some cheap material. It makes a huge difference because nowadays there’s easy clean or self cleaning glass that saves hours and hours of scrubbing soapy spattered and scummy or mildewed glass doors and tracks. For a little more you can something much better than the cheapest models.
3. The frame? What’s it made from and will it match your décor. There are now shower stalls and enclosures where you can choose the frame and all the accents in white or about a dozen different metals like bronze, chrome, antique gold, black, stainless steel, brushed copper, polished brass and lots of other finishes. Usually the price difference is marginal.
4. does the walk in shower enclosure come with showerheads, fixtures and trays and seats….if they are complete modular units they should come with everything you need to install and take a shower immediately. These are complete units.
5. are the pieces sold separately? For example if the shower stall you are buying is a door made by Kohler, do they have the tray and panels that will match seamlessly and be easy to install together. Be careful not buy mismatched sets that may have leaks r poor sealing ability when placed together.
6. are the doors right or left hand opening….especially if you are buying a sale item or a One OF then check it is what you need for the space you have. Also, be sure how the doors open and if it will work for you….like bi-fold, or single door or double or slide. Don’t assume that because it looks great in the picture or showroom it is right for your space. Measure and be sure beforehand.
7. could you better use a neo angle shower stall to take up less space in your bathroom instead of a square or rectangular design that must be placed in prime floor space.
