Quilted Moving Blankets for Added Furniture Protection

Posted by admin in March 9th 2010

Moving blankets are a necessity during any move. They help you feel more confident about yourself and the safety of your precious belongings. Instead of worrying about your furniture you will be sure that your furniture is safe and secure. However, there is a catch, not all moving blankets are suitable for your things, it depends on the type of furniture you have. There are two different types of moving blankets, there are the quilted ones and the non quilted protective sheets. In order to find out which ones you will need, you will have to look at the home furnishings that you want to cover. Are they durable? Are they delicate? Will they last during a bumpy ride? Ask yourself these questions before buying anything.

The quilted protective coverings are more secure and protective than the non quilted. They are also more expensive than other moving blankets. Why? Because quilted moving blankets are made of several layers of protective sheets when non quilted ones are much lighter and have less layers of fabric. You can indicate whether or not a moving blanket is quilted by its weight. The heavier the covering is the more secure it is and the higher its price will be. Now, to know which type you need you have to examine your furniture. If you have anything that is made out of glass including mirrors then non quilted blankets will not do. You will be wise to purchase the more expensive ones.

It is always best to be on the safe side, but it’s not necessary to buy more expensive moving blankets if they are not needed. If you think that your belongings will not be damaged being wrapped in thin sheets then go for the non quilted and they can even be used moving blankets. It will help you save a lot of money which is something we all need to do when it comes to moving. The size is also extremely important. The size of moving blankets you need to purchase should depend on your usage. Do you have small items you want to cover or large ones? It depends, after all, there is no use in having moving blankets that will not cover your furniture all the way, they could easily slip off if the size is too big or too small. That is why it is important to get something that is just right. And if you need you could always use duct tape to make sure your blankets do not slip off your belongings.
