How To Know The Right Outdoor Ceiling Fans For You

Posted by admin in February 8th 2011

Outdoor ceiling fans work almost the same way as indoor ceiling fans except they were made to function even in extreme outside conditions. Apart from being affordable, they are an ideal way to keep the outside area of your homes cool and breezy.

Outdoor ceiling fans are of 2 types: damp-rated fans and wet-rated fans. Damp-rated fans are exclusively used only in covered places like patios, sun rooms and porches where they are not directly exposed to wind, rain, snow and other external elements since they are capable of handling moisture only

Meanwhile, outdoor ceiling fans wet rated are oppositely designed.  Although it can be installed both in covered and uncovered areas like a  gazebo or uncovered patio, it can be directly exposed to the elements.  They are tightly sealed that keeps the motor inside from getting wet by moisture and water.  Likewise, the hardware and motor casings are also coated with protective powder.

One will also find outdoor ceiling fans with light fixtures that are intended not only to bring a nice breeze to his outside area but to illuminate it as well. They have a  wide range of lighting forms, from a single bulb to multiple ones. So if you have a wide area and seeks a lot of light, then you would be needing one with the maximum wattage. There are also glass encased light bulbs that will help keep insects and other bugs away from the light, although outdoor ceiling fans similarly function as natural insect repellent. With these many features, your patio will not only be enjoyable at night but would be more relaxing as well.

Coming in multiple models, styles and colors, literally by the hundreds, one can easily find the outdoor ceiling fan that he require. Of course in choosing them, it will depend on several factors, including the height of the ceiling, style of the backyard, the amount of light and the needed air movement.  As regards to the cost, it won’t be a problem as there are typically cheap outdoor ceiling fans that can meet anyone’s requirements.
